ABUJA, Nigeria—A petrol tanker crashed and then exploded in north-central Nigeria, killing at least 12 people, police said Friday.
The tanker had a brake failure along a highway in Kogi state’s off-council area on Thursday night and collided with a vehicle blocking the highway, causing a fireball, a police spokesman told The Associated Press. rice field.
The vehicle “crushed cars on the way” and all victims were burned to death, said William Ovey Aya, commander of Kogi police.
Bisi Kazeem of Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps said other people were injured in the crash.
