Police: Five dead, including police, in North Carolina shooting
A gunman who opened fire along a boardwalk in the North Carolina capital on Thursday killed five people who were cornered in their homes and eluded officers for hours before being arrested, police said. Among those killed by the suspect included an off-duty police officer, whom police described only as a white boy. The shooting occurred along the Neuse River Greenway in a residential neighborhood northeast of downtown around 5 p.m., according to Raleigh Mayor Mary Ann Baldwin.
