Harare — Police said seven people, including six foreigners, were killed when a gas cylinder exploded at a SAS gold mine in Zimbabwe’s Mazou district on Thursday.
Mazowe, Congressman Fortune Chasi, told Reuters that the six foreigners were Chinese.
“When I got there, police were collecting bodies. Mines officials and other government officials were there trying to prove exactly what happened,” Chasi said. I did.
According to police, the explosion occurred in a mine about 50 km (30 miles) north of the capital.
“We were investigating the deaths of six foreigners, not just Zimbabweans, when a gas cylinder exploded at the SAS mine,” police spokesman Paul Nyathi said.
Another person was seriously injured and was taken to a local hospital, Nyathi added.
