A large fire broke out at an offshore construction facility in Wisconsin


Eagle, Wisconsin (AP) — A large fire caused by an explosion occurred on Thursday at a marine construction company in southeastern Wisconsin.

There was no immediate word as to whether anyone was injured at the Somerset Marine Construction in Eagle’s small Walkisha County community, about 35 miles (56 km) southwest of Milwaukee.

The aerial video showed a huge black cloud of smoke swirling from the building.

Janine Conch, administrative assistant at the Kettle Moraine Fire Department, said the explosion affected the fire. There was no immediate word about what caused the explosion.

Eagle Elementary School is about a quarter mile from Somerset Marine.School officials said WTMJ-TV The staff said the building seemed to sway for a few seconds around 7:50 am

According to the company’s website, the company manufactures piers and docks with 24,000 square feet (2,230 square meters) of facilities, including showrooms, offices, factories and warehouses.
