Police say a flight attendant on a Citilink plane traveling from Jakarta to Ternate, North Maluku, noticed a man changing his clothes on Sunday.

“He bought a plane ticket in his wife’s name and brought his ID, PCR test results, and a vaccination card in his wife’s name. All documents are his wife’s name,” he said. After arresting the man on landing, Ternate Police Chief Aditia Lakshimada said. He was identified only by his initials.

Police took him to a COVID-19 test and returned positive.

The man is currently quarantined at home and police said he would continue the investigation.

Indonesia is on the verge of a coronavirus outbreak in Asia with 33,772 new confirmed cases and 1,383 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of reported cases was 2.9 million, with 77,583 deaths.
