A Memphis man was charged with murder after his wife died on his honeymoon, officials say.


A Memphis man was charged with murder after police said he had killed his wife during a couple’s honeymoon in Fiji.

Bradley Robert Dawson, 38, killed his wife, Christie Chen Dawson, 39, at a resort on Yasawa Island, officials said.

The couple lived in a new home on Elzeia Avenue in the Cooper-Young district of Memphis. One of the couple’s neighbors said his wife was overjoyed to travel to Fiji for her honeymoon.

Christi Chen Dawson graduated from the University of Tennessee and worked as a pharmacist at Kroger.

FOX13 Anchor Daniel Wilkerson spoke with Bradley Robert Dawson’s lawyer on Monday. Dawson’s lawyer said he could not confirm how his wife died, but said his client remained innocent. Lawyers confirmed that the body of his wife was found in a hotel room.

Youth Villages, a non-profit organization that supports children, has confirmed that Bradley Robert Dawson works for this organization.

“Bradley Dawson was an IT professional at Youth Village. He was suspended until more information came out. It is our understanding that Mr. Chen was his wife and our condolences. The intention is directed at her family, “said Youth Village in a statement to FOX13.

Bradley Robert Dawson’s lawyer said he was working to build ties for clients scheduled to appear in court in Fiji on July 27.
