Violent tremors recorded as having a magnitude 7.3 earthquake near the coast of Japan
A powerful 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck the northeast coast of Japan late March 16 and issued a tsunami warning to authorities. According to a geological survey in the United States, a small earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 occurred about two minutes before the earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning to Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures on Wednesday night. Residents of Tokyo also felt shaking.
