A Texas sheriff said a teenager died after jumping out of a moving car during a quarrel with his mother.

A teenager arguing with his mother jumped from a moving car onto the Texas Interstate Highway, and another car hit her fatally, officials say.

The girl was in a “fuss” with her mother Interstate 45 Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said, north of Houston, when she jumped out of the car on Monday night. Another car struck her and ran away, the sheriff said.

A girl about 15 years old was declared dead on the scene.

Harris County Sheriff Thomas Gililand told the New York Post that the girl’s mother was cooperating in the investigation and the reason for their allegations remained unknown on Tuesday.

“We need to find that person and know what happened,” Gililand told the New York Post. “They may not have noticed, but once they went on strike (girl), they would have noticed that it was the body, not the debris or anything.”
