  • Aaron Rodgers and the Packers were removed from the playoffs by the 49ers in a shocking upset.

  • Rogers told reporters that he would consider his future this offseason and whether he would like to continue playing.

  • The Packers have a big roster decision to do this off-season that could reshape the team.

The future of Aaron Rodgers has emerged in the air after a shocking upheaval in the hands of the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL Playoffs Division Round.

Rogers is out of his contract this offseason. Rumors swirled much of the last off-season that Rogers wanted to play elsewhere.

Despite rumors of trade demand, Rogers eventually returned to the Packers in the 2021 season and dominated. Probably the front runner to win the MVP for the second year in a row, Rogers achieved just four passcuts with over 4,100 yards and 37 touchdowns. His advantage helped the Packers advance to 13-4, get the No. 1 seed in NFC and get a buy.

On Saturday, everything collapsed as the cold conditions and the 49ers’ stout defense front kept the Packers down to just 10 points. Rogers completed 20 out of 29 passes at 225 yards without touchdowns or pass cuts.

Green Bay was unable to move the ball to the field on the final drive in the second half of the fourth quarter and handed the ball to the 49ers. San Francisco marched the field into the range of field goals and nailed the kick to win the game as time passed to advance to the NFC Championship.

Rogers told reporters after the match that it would take time to think about his future.

“I didn’t expect to talk about this after this match,” Rogers said. “I’ll spend some time talking to people around here and then taking some time to make a decision, apparently before a free agent or anything goes ahead.”

Later he added: “Many decisions should be made. There are many players with a future in the air. It will definitely be interesting to see in which direction some of those decisions go. But I [Packers GM Brian Gutekunst] Next week or so, get a little clearer and think about your future and how long you want to keep doing this. “

Rogers was specifically asked if he didn’t know if he wanted to continue playing soccer or play for another team. Rogers said the loss was still too “fresh” to think about his future, but he said he would “think” in the coming weeks.

According to ESPN’s Adam Chefter, Packers enter $ 44 million in the off-season beyond the salary cap. They need to make decisions on several major players, including wide receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard, tight end Robert Tonyan, and cornerback Kevin King.

Later in the press conference, Rogers said he wouldn’t want to participate in the reconstruction if he continued to play.

“We have to make a lot of decisions. If we’re going to keep playing, we don’t want to be part of the rebuild.”

Rogers and the Packers have been at the top of the Super Bowl for the past three seasons, but haven’t been able to get over the hump. They were blown away by the 49ers in the 2019 NFC Championship and lost the fierce battle between Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2020 NFC Championship.

The early defeat of this year is a major disappointment for teams supported by NFC. Rogers said he imagined making this year’s Super Bowl and said the Packers team had what they needed to win.

Rogers told reporters he was preparing for a shake-up.

“This will definitely look different as we move forward in Green Bay.”
