Taking advantage of the opportunity of Computex, Alien also followed the market trend and replaced its x15 and x17 gaming notebooks with new Intel H-series processors and RTX 30 graphics cards. Of the two, x15 is said to be the most powerful model in 15-inch notebooks with a thickness of no more than 16mm, while the thickness of x17 is only 2.09cm. In order to achieve a good heat dissipation effect in such a fuselage, the factory added a four-fan combination and installed sensors at the core components to help the AI software to better perform independent control. In addition, the new machine also introduces an efficient voltage stabilizer, and models equipped with graphics cards no less than RTX 3070 are also equipped with special silicon grease gallium, which claims to have a thermal conductivity 25% better than the previous program number used by the m15 R4.
There are air outlets on the top, bottom, rear and sides of the new machine, which also occupies the position of the interface to a certain extent. Except for the power supply and the headphone jack, the other interfaces are placed on the back side. x15 is equipped with one USB-A, two USB-C, one HDMI 2.1 and one microSD card reader, while x17 has two USB-A, two USB-C, one HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 1.4, A microSD card reader and an Ethernet port.
Both x15 and x17 are equipped with an 8-core, 16-thread i7 11800H processor, which can be upgraded to i9 11900H. The basic model uses 16GB 3,200MHz RAM, x15 can be added up to 32GB, and x17 is a 64GB cap. In terms of storage, the minimum is 256GB NVMe, the single SSD configuration is 2TB capped, and the dual SSD is up to 4TB. For the GPU, the standard configuration is RTX 3060, and there are RTX 3070 or RTX 3080 going up. If you pursue the strongest performance, x17 will have more room to play. For example, the power and frequency of the RTX 3070 on the x17 can reach 140W and 1,620MHz, compared to the 3070 on the x15 with only 110W and 1,410MHz. It is worth mentioning that if you choose RTX 3080, the touchpad will also be equipped with RGB lighting.
As for the display, x15 will provide FHD and QHD resolutions. The former can choose 165Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time or 360Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time panel, the maximum brightness is 300 nits and supports 100% sRGB color gamut. But if you want to use NVIDIA G-Sync, you must choose a 360Hz model or a QHD resolution 240Hz, 2ms screen. It should be noted that the brightness of the QHD panel can reach 400 nits, and it also has a 99% DCI-P3 color gamut, which will be more in line with the needs of content creation. On the x17 side, you can choose a 120Hz, 4ms panel with a brightness of up to 500 nits and support 100% Adobe RGB color gamut. Alienware will also release a model with CherryMX keys for x17 (the keystroke is 1.8mm), and the other two new machines both support WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
According to Alien’s plan, the new opportunity will be launched in the United States from June 15th. The starting prices of x15 and x17 are US$2,000 (approximately RMB 12,740) and US$2,100 (approximately RMB 13,380).
