Amazon employee stole more than $300,000 from warehouse, police say


An Amazon employee admitted to stealing $300,000 worth of merchandise from a New Allen Road warehouse, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

MPD said 26-year-old Devan Thomas stole Apple and Samsung mobile phones, Nintendo consoles, mobile phone accessories, jewelry, watches, computer parts and game consoles from a warehouse.

Thomas was arrested after Amazon’s loss prevention team began investigating the theft in the area to which he was assigned while on duty.

Digital evidence linked Thomas to the theft, according to the arrest affidavit, and Thomas gave a written statement to the loss prevention team that he “chosen to remove items from the customer outside the building.”

Thomas was charged with theft of property worth more than $250,000.
