A Tennessee man has been charged after police said helicopter fireworks mortars were fired.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Station was announced on Saturday by 18-year-old John Schmidt of Franklin, Tennessee. Fired a mortar with a department helicopter It’s past midnight.
Police say the helicopter was flying 500 feet over the Haywood Lane parking lot for the “Street Racing Initiative.”
The detective saw Schmidt looking up at the helicopter before going to the car. Fire it with a mortar barrel and an aircraftAccording to the Associated Press, police say.
Police tried to leave the local outlet WZTV, but police found him on the scene and Detained him.. Additional mortars and fireworks were found in the car, and police called a bomb squad to remove them, the outlet reports.
Schmidt “has been imprisoned for (worse) assault on police and reckless danger of felony (two counts),” police tweeted Saturday.
No additional information has been announced as of Monday.
