An American girl says she was sexually assaulted at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico

A 23-year-old girl from New Hampshire says she was sexually assaulted at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico during a family trip on April 27.

Since October last year, the family of seven has been planning a trip to the Riviera Maya, the Caribbean coastline of the Yucatan Peninsula, as a Christmas present for children.

Nicola and Donnie McCabe brought their parents and five children, Shelby, Keeley, Devin, and 12-year-old twins Davis and Dacie.

They thought they would stay safe and alert as they stayed at an all-inclusive resort.

Before going to the Dolphinarium, Shelby and one of her sisters went to a souvenir shop without Nicola.

“I was nervous about leaving her, but I thought about it twice because it looked bright, cheerful, and attractive,” Nicola told The Epoch Times.

Nicola returned to her room with the other children and received the text “Come here” from her sister, Keeley, who went to the store with Shelby. She wrote a letter to her mother.

Nicola then went to her room and heard the shower running.

“Keeley said Shelby came in and the man in the store touched her. I went back to my room and asked my retired husband, who had retired from law enforcement, to hear what Keeley said.”

Meanwhile, Donnie was with his 12-year-old son.

“I was hanging out in the room with my 12-year-old son, waiting for everyone to come back and head to the beach. After my wife (Nikola) and my 12-year-old daughter did some shopping, I went back to my room. I’ve been, “Donnie told The Epoch Times.

“Nikola received a text from Keeley asking her to come to their room, so she did. After a while, she came back to our room and quietly told me: “Shelby was just sexually assaulted.” I said a little confused: “What are you talking about?” She then told me she wasn’t sure. Yes, but that’s what Keeley (our daughter) told her. I asked her to get Keeley out of their room. We were all standing in the hallway, asking Keeley where Shelby was, and she said she was taking a shower.

After leaving the store, Shelby says the salesman wanted to approach her with a bird in her hand and show it.

“Then he told me I hadn’t checked out his store yet, and took me with my arm to see his jewelry store one or two stores apart.” Shelby told the Epoch Times.

She said the man introduced her to her father and uncle, who are also salesmen, and provided her with a shot of tequila.

“I didn’t want to be rude, so I saw him pour it and I took it alone. He was very brute force about my seemingly normal sale from a short time in Mexico. So I didn’t think much about it. They always kept me busy with questions, compliments, and rings to try, “Shelby said.

“I thought it was safe, but I didn’t realize I was the target. I just wanted to enjoy my vacation and that’s what I was doing. I was invited to a resort jewelry store. Until. I thought they were friendly, I was vigilant, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough after the assault. What mom just wanted I was shocked because I didn’t know what to think about. I should have been safe, “Shelby said.

Donnie and Shelby spent the day at a “dirty police station” far from the resort. There was no contact from senior management regarding their welfare, and to date there was no contact from the hotel manager.

“And while the store is still open, they weren’t closed, even though the two men had a system to seduce women into sexual assault,” Nicola said.
Their lawyers aim to file class action proceedings against several comprehensive resorts that cover up attacks on tourists.
