Paris-A man dressed as a ninja attacked and injured two police officers with a sword in Cherbourg, northwestern France, before being shot and captured, police spokesmen said.
She said there were no immediate signs that the attack was terrorism-related.
She said she attacked two police officers called to the scene after the attacker stole the car and caused an accident, injuring one on the face and the other on the chin.
The perpetrator, dressed in black in the style of a traditional Japanese ninja fighter, was shot three times by an officer and taken to the hospital by helicopter in serious condition.
The attack occurred around 3:45 pm (1445 GMT) near a gas station on the Leclerc supermarket chain.
The attacker’s name and nationality were not immediately known.
