ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition arrives in Hong Kong, bringing unique advantages with AMD CPU + GPU

With the launch of AMD’s new architecture of CPUs and GPUs, the attractiveness has surpassed Intel and NVIDIA respectively, and there is even more “AMD YES!” in the market. Although the new Strix G model launched by ASUS during CES 2021 is a combination of AMD + NVIDIA, when it comes to Hong Kong in the second half of the year, it will finally sell the ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition with the “3R” attribute, which means it is actually ROG. + Ryzen CPU + Radeon GPU specifications, provide exclusive performance optimization capabilities, with up to 15% performance improvement.

Like other Strix series models, the design of G15 AE tends to be flat, but the AMD logo is printed on the A side to highlight that it is a 3R model. The Strix G15 AE is not particularly light and lightweight, and the weight has reached the level of 2.5kg, which is more suitable for use as a desktop substitute at home. The version introduced in Hong Kong is equipped with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor + Radeon RX 6800M 12GB GDDR6 with performance comparable to RTX 3070, plus 2x 8GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB M.2 and 100% DCI-P3 165Hz 15.6-inch WQHD IPS screen. Whether it is games or media creation, it can be competent.

According to ASUS, thanks to both the CPU and GPU, both AMD products, notebook performance can be improved through the exclusive SmartShift and Smart Access Memory technologies, which can bring up to 15%. The former is to balance energy efficiency according to different usage conditions, and the latter is to allow the CPU to also fetch and store VRAM to increase computing power. At the same time, the G15 AE’s cooling system has been upgraded, including the introduction of Thermal Grizzly’s liquid metal as a cooling conductor, and a new Arc Flow dual fan, which can extract hot air from a total of four air outlets, and it is relatively silent.

The I/O part is mainly placed at the back of the machine, with a set of USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (DP / PD), 3 sets of USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, HDMI 2.0b, 3.5mm headphone jack and LAN port. Because G15 AE can extend the endurance through PD mobile power, it is theoretically possible to take it out and use it. The Hong Kong price of ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition is HK$18,998.

There is also a low-key design, ROG Zephyrus M16, but this model will be more stylish, and the specifications are mainstream Intel + NVIDIA matching. Zephyrus M16 is a high-screen-to-body laptop with a 16-inch screen in a 15-inch body, so you will see a large, side-to-side WQXGA 165Hz screen when you open the cover, and it also has a 500 nits screen. High brightness makes it clearer when watching video content and editing media. And the screen can be opened 180 degrees, which is suitable for users who can put the laptop high to match other bases, screen accessories, etc.

The body measurements of the M16 are slightly controlled. It is 1.9kg and 22.3mm thick, which is also portable for the 16-inch model. Although the outward A side looks nothing special, in fact, if you look carefully, you will find that the case has some holes hollowed out by CNC, and there will be CD-like colorful refraction under the light source, which is a low-key luxury style.

In terms of specifications, Hong Kong will introduce three versions, mainly divided by GPU. The basic model will be Intel Core i7 + NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050Ti 4GB FDDR6 + 16GB DDR4 memory + 1TB M.2; upwards will be upgraded to RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 graphics card. The top version is Core i9 + RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 + 2x 16GB DDR4 and 2TB PCRe 4.0 single strips, which can be expanded to 4TB storage space as needed.

ROG Zephyrus M16 is also rich in I/O. There will be a set of Thunderbolt 4, a set of USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, a set of USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, HDMI 2.0b, LAN , MicroSD card reader, 3.5mm headphone jack.

In terms of pricing, the three levels mentioned above are HK$16,998, HK$18,998, and HK$24,998. A laptop backpack and a mouse will be included.
