At least 12 people killed in the fall of the Berlin Wall

At least 12 workers were killed and another 13 were injured in a wall collapse at a salt packaging plant in western India on Wednesday, government officials said.

A worker was found stuffing salt into a fragment of a factory wall in the Morbi district, 215 kilometers (135 miles) west of Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, said district officer JB Patel.

Injuries to 13 workers, primarily fractures, were not life-threatening, Patel said.

He also said the rescue operation was almost over. Other details were not immediately available.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fall of the wall.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the dead were heartbreaking.

Building collapse is common because many are poorly constructed using substandard materials.

The collapse of the building in 2013 killed at least 72 people in Mumbai, India’s financial and entertainment center.
