Authorities believe that the body found in Grand Teton National Park may be Gabby Petit’s body.
At a press conference on Sunday night, FBI agent Charles Jones said Petit’s “human bodies were found that match the description,” but they said they were awaiting forensic confirmation.
He added that the cause of death has not yet been identified.
Jones was informed of Petit’s family and expressed his “heartfelt condolences.”
The FBI, along with local law enforcement agencies, is searching for a 22-year-old woman who was reported missing on September 11.Her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said she last saw Petit Facetime on August 24th.
Schmidt said on August 30 that Petit had received a text stating that he had lost service in Yosemite, but she said. I don’t think it was her daughter who sent it. The family said she hadn’t contacted her since then.
