In his annual State of the Union address, President Biden announced the administration’s new standards requiring that all construction materials used in federal infrastructure projects be manufactured in the United States and manufactured with U.S. products.

Joe Biden: And when we do these projects, I’m also criticized. This is where I make no excuses. We’re going to buy Americans.

We are going to buy Americans. And it is fully consistent with international trade rules. Buy America has been her law since 1933, but past administrations, Democrats and Republicans, have fought to get around it. not anymore. Tonight, I am announcing a new standard that will require all construction materials used in federal infrastructure projects to be manufactured in America.
[APPLAUSE]
Made in America, I mean. Wood, glass, drywall, fiber optic cable, and as far as I can see, American roads, bridges, and American highways are being made from American products.
