Joe Biden Americans offered a job say they need to accept it or lose them Unemployment benefits..
The president vowed to enforce the unemployment law, but urged employers to raise people’s wages to get them back to work.
Despite slowing employment growth in April, Mr Biden rejected the idea that a $ 300 weekly unemployment benefit boost would encourage workers to stay home.
The president reiterated his view that “Americans want to work,” saying the White House “has not seen much evidence” of those claims.
Biden also said he hopes federal bailed employers will provide workers with decent wages, protect them from viruses and encourage vaccinations.
“As our economy recovers, we expect these companies to provide fair wages and a safe working environment,” Biden said from the White House.
“Then they will find a lot of workers.”
But he added: “Clarify that those who are unemployed who have been provided with the right job need to get the job or lose their unemployment benefits.”
Mr. Byden said his administration would provide an additional $ 1.9 trillion relief package, and state and local governments would apply for part of the $ 350 billion aid pool, especially to 16,000 restaurants and bars. He said he would allow it.
The Ministry of Labor reported last week that employers added just 266,000 jobs in April. This is a much smaller number than expected. However, the president downplayed the slowdown in job market growth and claimed that the economy was “going in the right direction.”
