Bills hires an architect to design the proposed stadium

Buffalo, NY (AP) — With signs that Buffalo Bills is approaching a stadium deal, the team hired a populous architectural firm to create the proposed new facility design.

Bills and its parent company, Pegra Sports and Entertainment, have not announced a decision, so the person spoke on anonymous terms. Athletic first reported the news early in the day.

The move is to reach an agreement that the team is in talks with states and counties to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funds to build a stadium across from Bills’ existing facility in Orchard Park, a suburb of Buffalo. It was done in. According to a state survey, the proposed outdoor stadium with more than 60,000 seats is estimated to cost $ 1,354 million.

New York Governor Kathy Hokul expressed confidence Last week she was able to sign a contract to include the project in the state budget scheduled for April by the end of the month. One open issue she specifically mentioned was the lease term to secure the franchise’s long-term presence in the Buffalo region.

Bills went into discussion last summer with a large line-by-line monetary breakdown of the proposed facility, but there was no actual rendering of what the stadium would look like. The team said it would hire the company only after the agreement was reached.

Populous is recognized as one of the world leaders in stadium design. The project portfolio includes Olympic venues, including Beijing, and numerous NFL stadiums, including the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals homes.

The bill, which opened in 1973, aims to replace existing facilities that were considered too expensive to refurbish. If approved, construction of the project may be completed towards the start of the 2026 season.
