“You have an aesthetic beauty that you can never get in a modern car, but aesthetics can now be combined with a modern powertrain,” Lorenz said.

Based near Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix, Lunaz produces a limited number of electric DB6s.

According to Lorenz, the company was founded to take upcycling to a whole new level and answer difficult questions. What would happen to the 2 billion vehicles already on the road if the internal combustion engine was banned?

“I want to save these vehicles for future generations. My daughter is 3 years old. When she reaches the driving age, she will drive an electric car. I tell her this We want people to enjoy cars like this, “says Lorenz.

Each electrified Aston Martin DB6 undergoes a thorough bare metal restoration that Lunaz calls “remanufacturing.”

Technical upgrades include the latest brakes, suspension, steering, air conditioning and electronic infotainment systems.

The electric drivetrain gives the car a range of 255 miles.

But what does Bond say when his beloved DB5 no longer makes its thirsty roar?

“Bond has always been about modern technology,” Lorenz said.

“Q would have loved giving the keys to the electrified Aston Martin. It fits Bond’s tee,” Lorenz said.

Lunez has already electrified many luxury cars from the past automobile era, including Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Jaguar sports car models. They will soon be offering limited build slots for the Aston Martin DB4 and Bond’s iconic DB5, which gained pop culture status after the release of “Goldfinger” in 1964. The price will be provided at the time of application, but is expected to exceed $ 1 million and the first delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2023.

Lunez wants to hunt down the market with classic car mods, but the competition for electrification is truly on the way for all modern supercar makers. These include Ferrari, which is scheduled for its first electric supercar in 2025, but Rolls-Royce teased the first fully electric car called the “Specter” last week. Coincidentally, it has the same name as the criminal organization behind the story of James Bond.
