British lawmakers were banished from the party after being sentenced to harassment women

A British parliamentarian was sentenced to probation on Thursday for harassing her partner’s friend. After that, she was banished from the Labor Party.

Claudia Webb, 56, was sentenced to a suspended sentence of 10 weeks and 200 hours of community service at the Magistrates’ Court in Westminster.

She was also ordered to pay a cost of 3,128 pounds ($ 4,226) and an additional fee within 6 months.

Webb said he was “extremely disappointed” with the ruling and will appeal the court’s decision.

A Labor spokesman confirmed Webb’s expulsion shortly after the ruling.

The Leicester East MP was convicted of harassment on October 13.

The court heard that Webb made 16 calls to partner Restormouth’s longtime friend Michelle Merritt between September 1, 2018 and April 26, 2020. A face, and another face she said she threatened to send a photo of merit naked to the whole family.

Judge Paul Goldspring, who handed down Webb’s ruling, described Webb’s actions as “cold and intimidating.”

“You felt jealous of the relationship between Leicester Thomas and Michelle Merritt, and perhaps somehow threatened by it,” he said.

Goldspring said Webb “showed little resentment or resentment,” and said he would have been imprisoned immediately without his previous good personality.

The district judge also counted four times that Webb called himself a “victim” during his testimony from the Witness Box at the trial, and the Probation Service report was that Webb was the victim himself.

Prosecutor Susanna Stevens said Webb’s crimes were “persistent … and long-term”, causing psychological harm and distress to the victims.

Merit told the court that Webb made her feel vulnerable both in public and at home.

“There were many nights I couldn’t sleep, and I want to be relieved again,” he said.

“By Mr. Webb’s position in the government, [sic]I don’t know what she can do. “

Merritt also said she “had a huge debt” and “desperately wanted to move away from the area where she knew that Merritt lived.”

“For years, women shouldn’t be threatened or harassed in the way they have against me, at least for all politicians,” Merritt said.

Attorney Paul Hines QC said politician Webb was also exposed to “abnormal criticism”, including threats of violence on social media and racist comments.
