Card catcher Molina out two games due to ‘business issues’

PHOENIX (AP) — St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was placed on the restricted list on Saturday and is expected to miss the next two games.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Molina was leaving for “business reasons” and plans to return to the team on Monday. Marmol added that Starr had previously asked for permission to depart for the weekend, and that request had been granted.

Marmol said the 10-time All-Star selection was not scheduled to be included in Saturday’s starting lineup, but was scheduled to be played on Sunday.

The NL Central leaders are on a five-game winning streak and have won 14 of their last 17 games.

Catcher Iván Herrera was activated from the taxi team to fill a spot on the roster. Molina had his first three hits of the season on Friday in the team’s 5-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
