June 17-Stand-up comedians are not strangers to Joplin.
Rodney Karrington, Gallagher, Larry the Cable Guy and Yakov Smirnov have been playing in Joplin for years, especially in the Memorial Hall. Frank Ikerd, now co-owner of the Chaos Brewing Company, wants to seduce comedians on national tours to perform in downtown Joplin.
Los Angeles-based comedian Greg Hahn’s appearance in Chaos on April 30th kicked off everything with great success, he said.
“If you put together a wishlist of comedians you want to play here, Greg will be at the top,” Icard said. “I still can’t believe he actually played here.
“(Greg) was as cheerful as usual and the crowd had a great time. We’re going to host a monthly stand-up comedy show in chaos,” he continued. “Hopefully, we can further develop these comedy shows and regain Greg in the future.”
Veteran comedian Andrew Rose will host the show. He finds it a pretty attractive and fun job. He hosted the World Series of Comedy, one of the country’s largest comedy festivals, and moved from coast to coast. Similarly, he hosted an oil wrestling show for traveling women.
“Yes, I think it’s a very interesting sentence to read, but I’ve dealt with as many different types of venues and audiences as you can imagine,” Rose said. “After a while, hosting isn’t that hard … and I love hosting. I’ll be the face of the show … and things go smoothly and everyone has a fun experience at my show I will. “
Originally from Austin, Texas, Tony Casillas will perform at Chaos on 112S.Main at 8pm on Friday, July 1st. Dan Kearney will also appear. The door opens at 7pm Tickets are $ 15.
“He’s a very funny person … and he’s paving the way for some of the biggest acting in the country, and I was lucky to be able to take him to Joplin,” Rose said. Said.
Las Vegas-based comedian Alex Just will be standing at Joplin for one night on Friday, July 29th at 8pm.
“(Alex) is my true best friend on the road with Kabir Singh, who made it to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent,” Rose said. “Alex is a killer comic.”
Rose is currently looking for a comedian to perform live in chaos in August.
“I will tell you this,” he said. “When I contact the venue owner, I tell you exactly that. Just because you don’t know us doesn’t mean we’re not interesting. Let’s have a great show.”
Rose believes that Joplin’s inhabitants are hungry for professional stand-up comedy. It’s an art that really has to be seen live — when viewed on TV, it loses something in translation, he said.
“I feel like a lot of people have never been to a real comedy show,” he said. “Many of the guests I speak to always say,’This is our first comedy show.’ Many people know about comedy, but I don’t think “let’s go to the show”. So I’m happy to be able to provide that experience to people for the first time. “
There is a quote from the famous Ben Franklin, Icard said: “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
“I think laughter is also evidence that God loves us and wants us to be happy,” he said. “Laughter is good for the soul and is absolutely necessary to deal with the stress of life. So what’s better than bringing beer?”
