Conservative MP Scott Aitchison will be the sixth official candidate in the leadership race


Ottawa — The Conservative Party of Canada is currently up to six candidates officially running for Erin O’Toole’s previous position.

Scott H.Hison, a local councilor in Ontario, has been identified as a validated candidate. In short, he submitted a registration fee worth $ 300,000.

Former Mayor Aitchison was first elected to the House of Commons in the 2019 federal elections, months before the COVID-19 pandemic.

He was reelected last year and decided to run for leadership after serving as a party labor critic.

Candidates submit all fees and nomination signatures to party headquarters by 5 pm on Friday if the party wishes to be included on the final ballot when choosing the next leader on September 10. is needed.

Pierre Poirievre, MP of the Ottawa region, and Reslin Lewis, MP of Ontario, who finished third in the party’s leadership race in 2020, have also been officially declared candidates.
