A prison officer at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is indicted after the sheriff’s office said he gave imprisoned women unauthorized food instead of observing them for sexual or lewd acts.
Prison officer Eddie Taylor was seen on security footage at St. Landry Parish Prison feeding an incarcerated woman on Aug. 12, said deputy chief Eddie Thibodeau, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. said in a release. Taylor also spoke to her family and told the woman that they provided the money to pay her bail.
The next day, Thibodeaux said a 33-year-old woman was seen on prison security footage, offering to feed the same woman more food and perform lewd sex acts.
Taylor brought more food to the other women imprisoned on August 14th. In the early hours of Aug. 15, Taylor stood outside the doorway of his cell, watching through the window as a woman engaged in sexual activity inside the cell, Thibodeaux said.
Opelousas’ Taylor was arrested Tuesday and charged with prohibited sexual activity with a person under the control of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections.
