The British Driver Alliance (ABD) has urged the British government not to comply with the European Union. This this week requires all new cars, vans and heavy trucks to be equipped with automated speed camera (ISA) technology.
ISA detects the speed limit of the road passing through satnav and other devices, issues audible or vibration warnings, and provides additional resistance to the accelerator pedal. Some versions actually bypass the driver and automatically slow down the car.
ABD said in an email to The Epoch Times that it has “grave concerns” about ISA. This is afraid that it can cause a rear-end collision and prevent the driver from accelerating from a dangerous situation on the road.
The new rule came into force on Wednesday across blocks in 27 countries, but the UK Department of Transport has not yet decided whether to claim ISA for cars sold in the UK.

ABD spokesman Ian Taylor said part of the problem was that the speed limit on many city roads in the UK had dropped to levels well below the required speed for safety reasons. .. Taylor told The Epoch Times in an email: “The speed limit was initially designed to be set to the maximum safe speed on the road …. If such regulations were still in place, the ISA would not cause too many problems. Most Drivers are naturally below the speed limit. Sadly, Britain is no longer following the science of limits. They are currently set by unqualified local and national politicians and are often local. I also oppose the advice of police experts who overrun unqualified activists. “
The Department of Transport (DfT) said it is evaluating ISA technology, but has not yet decided whether it will be mandatory in the UK.
But they added that the government has promised to “use innovative technologies to improve road safety.”
According to DfT figures, one in six deaths on British roads is speeding, and the number of deaths on British roads has dropped significantly since 2010, with the number of vehicles on the road declining significantly in 2020. Excluding it, it is flat with about 1,850 people.
