Elon Musk’s Twitter has revived the personal account of far-right lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene. Banned in January for violating the platform’s COVID misinformation policy at the time.
Green’s reinstatement comes after Musk reinstated his original account over the weekend President Donald TrumpHe was suspended in the aftermath of the deadly riots at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. His Twitter at the time feared that Trump risked inciting more violence if he was allowed to remain on the platform. Trump himself has said he has no intention of returning to Twitter, and as of Monday he has not deleted his account, but he has yet to tweet since returning.
Musk appears to have allowed Trump to return to the site based on an unscientific Twitter poll he posted on his timeline. Greene’s account does not appear to have had such a vote. Previously, the mask said, ” Content Moderation Council ” with diverse perspectives.
Musk has frequently expressed his belief that Twitter has become too restrictive. Ahead of this month’s US midterm elections, he urged his “independence-minded” Twitter followers to vote Republican.
One of the accounts Musk said he would not allow on Twitter was that of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Banned in 2018 for abusive behavior.
“My first child died in my arms. I felt his last heartbeat,” Musk tweeted on Sunday in response to Jones’ call for reinstatement. I will show no mercy to those who use the death of a child for their sake.”
