Elsa is currently a Category 1 hurricane.

Tropical Cyclone Elsa has been enhanced to a Category 1 hurricane with a maximum wind speed of 75mph.

According to the National Hurricane Center, at 8 pm EST, Elsa was about 100 miles south-southwest of Tampa and was moving north at 9 mph. The hurricane is expected to land in Florida early Wednesday, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) said this is likely to occur between 8am and 9am.

Hurricane watches run from the Tampa Bay area to the Steinhatchie River, 180 miles north of the Gulf Coast. Reuters Report. Tornadoes could occur in Florida, southeastern Georgia, and southern South Carolina on Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center. Elsa is expected to travel across the southeastern United States and rain up to four inches in Florida.
