Denise Austin was stunned When Sports Illustrated Swimsuits Asked If she walked the runway in a bikini.
The fitness icon attended the 2022 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show in July with her daughter, SI Swim model Katie Austin. Her mother and daughter proudly rocked the two-piece on the catwalk for a live show at her W South Beach pool in Miami Beach, Florida.
“At first I thought, ‘Am I really doing this? Are you kidding? Am I 65 and wearing a bikini?'” Austin laughed. It was an amazing, natural elation.I was honored that they even asked me out.And doing this with my daughter made it all the more special.Walking the runway made me It was the highlight of my life… with my daughter. It’s not over yet.”
The former gymnast said her 28-year-old daughter has been an inspiration to her.
“It brought tears to my eyes [when I first saw her in SI]’” Austin explained. “I was so proud of her. She is the sweetest person with the biggest heart. And she is a hard worker. No, this was her dream, and I’m very proud of it, I remember Look at Christie Brinkley With Kathy Ireland on the cover [thinking] How big a deal was that? For over 30 years, Austin has encouraged people to start an active lifestyle through their workout routines. She has sold over 24 million of her workout videos and her DVDs. She also headed the longest running fitness show in television history. She’s bursting with energy and enthusiasm while doing “full-body burning cardio” and training to “be lean, toned and perfectly fit.” All with a megawatt smile.
Most recently, she partnered with Easy Spirit to launch a new collection called ‘Easy Spirit x Denise Austin’ on September 15th. Featuring active her footwear designed for high or low intensity workout routines.

“Whether you’re walking or walking, your shoes are the most important thing. do all forms of fitness“When Easy Spirit asked me to collaborate, I was very excited because I love their shoes, but I wanted to create a more fun style with benefits. , a very light shoe, the other is good for brisk walks and runs.I have made both styles but I walk at least 35 minutes a day.Walk the dog or do pilates I wanted something I could wear casually or run errands in. I wear athletic wear all the time, so it made sense.”
Austin said low-impact workouts are often overlooked, but they have many benefits for those in need of motivation.
“You can burn calories and get healthier without straining your joints,” she shared. I recommend… I also do low-impact aerobics at home, so instead of regular jumping jacks, I do heel jacks, thighs and glutes because the bigger muscles in the body burn more calories. Muscle burns more calories, you don’t have to jump to feel it and get your heart rate up.”
According to Austin, her secret to looking youthful is surprisingly simple. She exercises for 30 minutes each day, eats a balanced diet of “80% healthy food, 20% snacks,” and drinks plenty of water throughout the day.
“I love HIIT interval training,” she said. “When I am walking, I do five minutes of good walking, then I do a brisk trot with my arms pumped up. Like jogging, it lifts you higher. I also believe in a positive attitude. When I wake up with gratitude, I want to take care of myself. And I want to exercise. I’m still a believer, that’s how I live.”
Austin also made a point of experimenting in the kitchen. eat everything in moderation.
“I love Mexican food!” she gushed. “I love tacos, guacamole and margaritas. These are my treats. I come from a big family and I love to eat. When I go out to dinner, I want to enjoy them.” I just have fun.When I’m home, I cook for myself.I always cook for my family.”
The only message Austin has for other women her age is to keep moving.
“You can always improve your health,” she explained. I believe that 10 minutes a day can help you start exercising.Take a 10-minute walk.If you can do that, you can improve your mental and physical health every day.”
“I know exercise is one of the best preventative medicines.” There are all kinds of exercises.I like doing leg exercises in the kitchen.I sit on the counter while I wait for my coffee to brew.Every day I can stretch and move more I’m figuring out how to do it, and if there’s one message I can give you, it’s never too late.”
