Five mutilated bodies found in bag in southern Mexico

MEXICO CITY—Mexico’s southern prosecutor’s office said on Monday they had found the bodies of five men in a village north of the Pacific coast resort of Acapulco.

Prosecutors in the southern state of Guerrero did not provide details of the killing, but local media reported that the body had been hacked and left in a plastic bag.

Acapulco has been torn apart by bloody drug cartel violence for more than 15 years.

And in another town just north of the resort, prosecutors said Monday two more men were killed. Believed to be associated with cartels.

In January 2019, heavily armed vigilantes took over Xaltianguis, kicked out a rival band, blew up a car containing gas canisters, and mutilated the body of one of its two fallen opponents.
