Five people charged after witnesses found woman beaten naked in dog cage at home in Georgia, agent says

Five people were arrested after police announced they had kidnapped a 20-year-old woman and imprisoned her in a cage.

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office told WJBF Investigators responded to the Nelly Drive home around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of a wrongful imprisonment victim.

Authorities told WJBF that witnesses saw the woman trapped in a dog cage inside the home of 32-year-old Shauna Sue Powell. said he had been severely beaten and had asked for help.

Witnesses told officials that someone in the home country heard that several people were on their way “with her”.

According to WJBF, witnesses told agents they knew two people in the house were armed and one of the men was killed when he first arrived because he didn’t know who he was. said to have pointed a gun at him. He hinted that 19-year-old Dawson Alexander Weston was home and he always had a weapon.

WJBF said agents around the main building noticed the movement inside. The deputy tried to tell the person inside to raise his hand and come out. WJBF added that investigators even tried to contact Powell by name.

Moments later, WJBF said a man named Demichael Rashawn Dawson, 24, had left the home after agents believed he was armed.

According to WJBF, Dawson told investigators there were more people inside and three pitbulls in the residence were let out so deputies could enter.

When they entered the house, authorities found empty cages where the victims were believed to have been kept.

WJBF said investigators eventually found the victim lying on a bed in the left front bedroom of the house, injured and mentally distraught. was found doing Her left eye was badly swollen and bruised.

Authorities told WJBF they believed there was at least one more person in the house. They then tried to negotiate before Powell left the room.

Powell asked investigators what was going on and said she was asleep.

SouthStar EMS responded and transported the victim to a local hospital. Animal Control also responded by taking the dog.

Investigators charged Powell, Weston, Dawson, 29-year-old Angelica Dennis Figueroa, and 18-year-old Savannah Marie Piazzi with kidnapping, wrongful imprisonment, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the crime.

WJBF added that Dawson was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
