Five years after the agreement, Colombia’s peace remains fragile

In 2016, the world welcomed a peace agreement that saw Latin America’s most dreaded guerrilla groups put their weapons to end the devastating nearly 60-year conflict in Colombia. But even now, five years later, peace is fragile and violence is endemic. The victims of the conflict exceeded 9 million. This is the total number of people killed, injured, missing or evacuated during the conflict. However, compensation for them has been delayed.
