Florida state officially sacks QB Kitona after child porn accusation


GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The state of Florida has officially sacked quarterback Jalen Kitna from the team. Police arrested him on five charges of child pornography, which police said contained images of a man having sex with a young girl.

Gators removed Kitona’s name from its roster and removed his biography from its website just hours after Kitona’s first court appearance. has been ordered to ban unsupervised contact with and access to the Internet.

Kitna, 19, is back in Burleson, Texas with her parents and retired NFL quarterback John Kitna and wife Jennifer.

Kitona remained in class on Friday, but university police issued him a trespass warning that would keep him off campus for three years pending the outcome of his lawsuit. Kitona also has to pass a student code of conduct hearing to be eligible to return home, an unlikely outcome given the seriousness of the allegations.

Kitona sobbed during her 75-minute court appearance. That included lawyers from both sides discussing bail details and the terms of his release. He wore a plain green smock usually given to inmates who are closely monitored for welfare concerns.

The Gainesville Police Department released Kitna’s arrest report on Thursday, providing graphic details about the complaints filed against him.

According to police, Kitona shared two sorcerers of girls being sexually abused via social media platforms, one of whom was a man who had sex with a young girl. did.

Police later searched his phone and found three more images of two naked young girls in the shower that were saved on Kitona’s phone in December 2021.

Kitona’s attorney, Caleb Kenyon, argued that these three images could be considered child erotica, not child pornography.

Two of the five arrest charges are second-degree felonies that require formal proceedings by the state attorney’s office and can carry prison sentences of up to 15 years and fines of up to $10,000. His remaining three counts are third-degree felonies.

The Gators suspended Kitna after his arrest on Wednesday and took steps to fire him the next day.
