Halgrimson was later accused of using excessive force against Gicarelli at the police station. Susan Dill, a former lawyer for Gicarelli, told Stars that Halgrimson had previously been caught in a video of Hargrimson grabbing Gicarelli in his throat, throwing it on the floor and hitting his face.
According to Dill, the police chief told Gicarelli, “You deserve to die.”
Hallgrimson was put on leave by Greenwood City Council Immediately after the assault accusation came to light. He resigned May 2019.
