Fox News, a conservative network, refused to broadcast a national speech on President Joe Biden’s voting rights and instead devoted himself to reporting just minutes after the speech.
On Tuesday, the network was the only major cable news channel in the United States that did not take advantage of the president’s speech. Both CNN and MSNBC broadcast the entire speech.
In his speech, Biden blamed the “big lie” spread by former President Donald Trump and many of his allies. A false claim that Mr. Biden “stolen” the 2020 elections, or a false claim that widespread fraud has lost Mr. Trump.
“The big lie is exactly that. It’s a big lie,” Biden said, promising to support voting rights in the expanded division of the Justice Department.
Instead, Fox’s host discussed other news of the day. Screenshots posted on Fox’s Twitter during Mr. Biden’s speech show the network spending time discussing his divorce from Billionaire’s Bill Gates and Melinda Gates, and Johnson & Johnson Covid. -19 Shows segments for possible side effects of the vaccine.
The president’s live speech is much less frequent than the White House’s daily press conference, which is also frequently held live by the press, and Tuesday’s speech is over Republican-led voting-restriction efforts in states across the country. It took place in the midst of rising national battles.
Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy said during the live hit he felt the president was trapped because the Senate did not get enough support for the two Democrat-led voting bills. ..
The president’s speech on Tuesday was given when Democrats in the Texas State Parliament were in Washington, DC after fleeing Austin. ..
A Fox News spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment.
