Franklin Central Senior Wrestler Aiden Harper, 17, died Wednesday, according to a statement from the Franklin Central Athletic Department.
Aiden Harper was known by friends and family as a “hammer.”
He is survived by his parents Taniel Harper and Andy Kerns. Brothers Addilyn Kerns and Allen “Danger” Kerns; Grandparents, Dee Johnson, Tim Johnson, Jack Harper, Alan Harper. Aunt, Colin (Caleb) Hewitt.
“The Franklin Central family has been overwhelmed by the tragic loss of Aiden Harper,” Greg O, Franklin Central athletic director, said in an email. “Aiden was a senior captain and respected leader of the wrestling team. Our heartfelt sympathy is directed at Aiden’s family and they are in our thoughts and prayers.”
Harper participated in the territory tournament as a junior, setting a record of 27-12 in 113 weight classes.
As a sophomore, Harper went 21-14 and reached the third round of the Shelbyville section at 106.
