Girl found with man in Alabama motel room had been dropped off by parents, police say

Found by lawmakers searching northern Alabama motel Two “underage women” According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, one of the girls was in a room with a man after being dropped off by her guardian.

The same parent also rented a motel room, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The discovery was made on Monday, Jan. 9, after a “concerned family member” called the sheriff’s office to report that a minor relative may have been seeing the man at the motel. Walker County lies northwest of Birmingham.

“During the investigation, it was determined that two underage women were in separate rooms, each with an adult man,” the sheriff’s office said. “It turns out that one parent of an underage woman drove the girl to a motel, rented her room, and at one point left her child alone.”

The two men were arrested at a motel after their agents learned they were wanted by the Jasper Police Department in Walker County on separate charges, sources said.

The parent who dropped one of the girls off has also been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of the child, according to the sheriff’s office.

The identities of the men have not been released, and investigators have not stated why the boy was left alone with them.

“This is a very heartbreaking situation and just thinking about this whole situation makes everyone physically sick, especially another parent,” the sheriff’s office said. The amount of trauma and emotional distress that has been through and will endure in the future is troubling to say the least.”
