Harris will move to the official residence next week

Washington (AP) — After living in temporary housing for more than two months, Vice President Kamala Harris will soon be able to unpack and unwind at the official residence on the grounds of the United States Naval Observatory.

Simone Sanders, Vice President’s senior adviser and chief spokesperson, tweeted Thursday that Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff will move to their official residence on Massachusetts Avenue in northwestern Washington next week. Sanders did not provide a date.

According to Sanders, repairs included heating, ventilation, maintenance of air conditioning systems, replacement of chimney liners, and refurbishment of some of the hardwood floors of 19th-century Victorian homes.

Officials said it would be easier to work while the house was vacant after former Vice President Mike Pence and his wife moved.
