Los Angeles judge says “death and destruction continued” Michael Garjuro

A convicted murderer called “Hollywood Ripper” was sentenced to death for killing two women in the 2000s.

Relatives of his victims cried when the judge ruled Michael Garjuro in Los Angeles on Friday.

Ashley Elerin, 22, and Maria Bruno, 32, were stabbed to death at their home in California.

Garjiuro was captured after another potential victim, Michelle Murphy, then 26, managed to fight him.

He escaped from the scene but left blood-allowing police to track him.

In a Friday ruling, Ms. Murphy broke up and told the court more than a decade later that “spend the night alone creates a world of horror for me.”

Gargiuro was convicted of two attempted murders and one attempted murder in 2019, but he continues to claim innocence.

He is now expected to be tried in Illinois and has been charged with another murder for murdering an 18-year-old woman in 1993.

The murder in California received worldwide attention as one of the victims, Elerin, was trying to date American actor Ashton Kutcher the night he was killed in February 2001.

Actor Ashton Kutcher testified at the murder trial of serial killer Michael Thomas Garjuro on May 29, 2019 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Kutcher testified about the night Ms Ellerin was killed

He testified at trial and said he had knocked on the door of Elerin’s Hollywood home. When she didn’t answer, he said, Katcher looked at her window and saw what he thought was a wine stain on the floor.

The next day, his roommate found Elerin dead with 47 puncture wounds.

During the trial, Katcher told the court that he was “surprised” when he learned that Ellerin had been killed.

Garjiuro killed his four mothers, Bruno, in December 2005. The prosecutor said she was Garjiuro’s neighbor and “literally slaughtered” her with a knife while she was asleep.

Three years later, Murphy woke up in Santa Monica’s apartment with Gargiuro on top and stabbed her with a knife, but managed to fight him.

She was an important witness to the trial.

When he announced his decision, Judge Larry Paul Fiddler said, “In this case, death and destruction continued everywhere Mr Gargiuro went.”

However, it may take some time before Gargiuro is sentenced to death. The last execution in California was in 2006, and that practice has been banned from 2019 under Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom.
