House of Commons welcomes the general public and bans COVID-19 from general visitors

The House of Commons has stated that it will lift the ban on public visits introduced more than two years ago to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The Commons Chamber of Commerce’s public gallery will reopen on Monday, allowing people to see the MP debate directly.

Next month, a guided tour of the House of Commons will begin for the first time since March 2020.

Visitors must wear a mask and indicate that they have been vaccinated to visit Parliament under the rules imposed by the Internal Economics Commission, a party-wide committee of parliamentarians governing the Commons. ..

Much of the parliamentary precincts, including the historic Center Block building, are currently under construction for major renovation projects.

MP is based in a building called West Block. The building has already been restored and has a visitor’s gallery and a discussion room with improved acoustics.
