Before the rocket explodes into space, it must travel 4.2 miles from the Space Shuttle Assembly Building to the launch pad in Cape Canaveral, Florida. That’s where NASA’s Crawler Transporter comes in. NASA is the largest self-powered vehicle on the planet and is designed to transport rockets to the launch pad. We looked inside to see how NASA prepared and operated a £ 16m mobile launcher and a crawler for NASA’s largest and heaviest rocket to date, the Space Launch System.
