The Taliban say it surrounds Afghan resistance fighters and demands peace
(Reuters)-The Taliban surrounds the only remaining state that resists its rule, senior leaders said Wednesday, calling on rebels to negotiate a reconciliation with the group. Since the fall of Kabul on August 15, the mountainous Panjshir has been the only state to compete with Islamic groups, but the neighboring state of Baghlan is also fighting between the Taliban and local militias. Under the guidance of Ahmad Shah Massoud, the son of former Mujahideen commander, thousands of local militias and remnants of the military and special forces are opposed to the Taliban.
