We are currently investigating the sexual misconduct of state legislators, as if this Idaho legislative assembly could not be lowered any further. Republican Rep. Aaron von Elinger has been accused of doing this in his apartment. This is paid by all of us as taxpayers.
To make matters worse, a Republican lawmaker shared a website post identifying the von Eringer whistleblower in an irresponsible display of shameful recklessness. “Conservative” lawmaker.
Meanwhile, legislative hits continue to come.
This legislative session is over 100 days on Tuesday, and Aida Juan has little indication of it. In short, lawmakers haven’t yet tackled property taxes by simply raising the homeowner’s exemption and indexing it. This was widely regarded as one of the top priorities of most candidates in last year’s elections, but has taken no action.
As we approach the horrifying reality of May’s sign die, the legislature needs to do everything it can to get past the necessary budget and get out of Boise before doing any more damage.
