Terre Haute, Indiana (AP) — Police officers in western Indiana were shot deadly outside a federal office building on Wednesday, officials said.
Sgt. Ryan Adamson of the Terre Haute police station confirmed on Twitter that the police had died.
“Unfortunately, a police officer was shot dead while on duty. An officer died. In some cases, we plan to release more information,” said Adamson.
Police did not disclose the police officer’s name while waiting for notification to his family.
Tribune-Star reported that the shooting took place outside the federal office building behind the Vigo County Courthouse.
Law enforcement officials said the suspect had been operated on late Wednesday afternoon at a Terre Haute regional hospital.
No further information was immediately available.
