Watching snow fall on a dormant volcano in Hawaii
This video was shot on December 1st and 2nd at a summit near the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFH Telescope) Observatory. Mary Beth Reichuck, head of the CFH telescope, told Reuters that there are currently no staff at the summit. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a rare snowstorm warning at the Big Island Summit on Friday (December 3rd) weekend forecasts, anticipating at least 12 inches of snow with a gust of about 100mph. In a tweet, he added that Hawaii’s highest altitude (above 11,000 feet) snowfall is “quite common.”
