Ontario police continue to investigate the alleged murder of a police officer who police say was ambushed while answering a phone call.
The police say Konst. Grzegorz “Greg” Pierzchala was shot Tuesday afternoon when he reacted to a car in a ditch on the west side of Hagersville, Ontario, and got there.
Randall McKenzie, 25, and Brandi Crystal Lyn Stewart-Sperry, 30, have each been charged with first-degree murder.
Police say Mackenzie has been banned for life and was charged in 2021 with several gun crimes and assaults on security personnel.
A warrant was issued for this arrest, and additional charges were filed after he failed to appear in court in September.
According to the OPP, 28-year-old Pierzchala has been in the army for over a year and has been patrolling independently since April.
