Iraqi troops said in a statement that an Iraqi helicopter crashed during a combat operation in northern Iraq, killing all five crew members.
According to military officials, the helicopter descended near the northern town of Amerli, 105 miles north of Baghdad. It is not specified whether it was due to a hostile fire or a technical failure.
Despite the defeat of the ISIS terrorist group in 2017, the remnants of the group switched to hit-and-run attacks on government troops in various parts of Iraq.
Iraqi security forces have launched a number of operations over the past few months in areas where helicopters crashed to track extremists, military officials said.
