Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergeĭ Viklov sought sanctions imposed by the United States and other countries on the invasion of Moscow on Friday, alleging that the West had declared a “total war” against Russia.
Viklov commented at the meeting, describing the actions taken by Western nations in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a “true hybrid war” and adding that “total war was declared to us.” Associated Press reported..
According to AP, Mr Viklov also said he believes that the West has the goal of “destroying, destroying, annihilating and strangling the Russian economy, and Russia as a whole.”
Then he warned that Russia had an ally.
“We have many friends, allies, partners, and a huge number of associations around the world where Russia works with countries on all continents, and we will continue to do so,” Viklov said. Said.
Russia invaded Ukraine a month ago and has since strengthened its target to private territories. The Biden administration has officially accused Moscow of war crimes in Ukraine this week.
President Biden is in Europe this week and is meeting with members of Europe and NATO. New sanctions were announced Thursday against Russia’s President Vladimir Putin’s allies.
Biden will end his trip to Europe in Poland and will give a major speech on Saturday. Poland borders Ukraine.
Viklov emphasized that many states refused to participate in the effort, but international sanctions clearly hurt the Russian economy.
