Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger has a Kyle Rittenhouse rifle when he made closing arguments to the state at the Rittenhouse trial in November. Rittenhaus, who proposed self-defense that shot and killed two people during a protest in Kenosha in August 2020 and injured a third, was acquitted on all charges. On Friday, he agreed to have authorities destroy the guns used in the shooting.

The Kenosha-Kyle Rittenhouse rifle was dismantled at the State Crime Institute in April and will receive nearly $ 1 million in bail imprisoned to keep him out of jail in last year’s murder trial. ..

In a brief hearing on Friday, Judge Bruce Schroeder approved the two transactions. One was agreed by the Rittenhouse to force authorities to destroy the rifle. The other was to split $ 2 million in bail between actor Ricky Schroder and a Texas nonprofit led by Atlanta lawyer Lynnwood.

Under the agreement, $ 920,000 will be paid in trust to Richards & Dimmer, Racine’s law firm, which defended Rittenhouse. An additional $ 925,000 will be sent to #FightBackFoundation. Schroeder, who posed with Rittenhaus shortly after being released on bail, regains the $ 150,000 he donated.

The judge denied an 11-hour attempt to claim bail from a California-based hedge fund trust. The trust claims to be the transferee of a litigation finance company that has owed millions of dollars to Rittenhouse’s first lawyer, John Pierce of Los Angeles, and has ruled against him.

The trust claimed rights to all assets of Pierce’s company and entity, including bail, as Pierce invested $ 2 million in checks from the company’s account.

Rittenhouse lawyer Mark Richards claimed on Friday that the money was sent from #FightBack to Pierce’s company and passed through Pierce’s customer trust account, so it would not be subject to Lien by business creditors.

In the affidavit, the trust officer responsible for recovering assets from piercing also contributed $ 300,000 to Rittenhouse bail as an investment, despite the huge debt of piercing. Claimed to have decided to do.

“It’s a significant leap of trust in any prosecution,” Schroeder said. “Is it a good investment? I know hedge funds take risks, but this is strange.”

After Richards claimed that there was no evidence of such an investment, Schroeder agreed to pay bail as Rittenhouse, #FightBack, and Schroeder agreed, and would not wait for further proceedings from the hedge fund trust.

Rittenhaus did not attend the hearing on Friday. Richards doesn’t say where Rittenhouse lives, but she’s preparing to go back to college and she says she’s now interested in the potential for a “legal career.”

A jury in Kenosha County acquitted Rittenhaus in November on five charges, including murder. He said he acted for self-defense when he killed two people and injured a third during a protest in August 2020.

He used a Smith & Wesson M & P rifle that an older friend bought for him at a hardware store in Rusk County in May 2020. Rittenhaus was 17 at the time and he couldn’t legally buy firearms. The weapon was evidence in the Rittenhaus trial and was held in another proceeding against Dominique Black for providing a gun to a minor.

These accusations were dismissed after Black, 20 years old Earlier this month, he refused to dispute non-criminal citations For contributing to the misconduct of minors.

Richards said Black was also interested in claiming guns, and Rittenhouse was concerned that Black might try to sell the gun with the rumored six-digit offer.

“I didn’t think anyone should benefit from it,” Richards said.

Authorities returned Rittenhouse clothing and cell phones to Richards on Wednesday. He said he would mail them to Rittenhouse.

The Kenosha Joint Service will probably hold regular batches of firearms to the state’s criminal institute in April to hold the rifle until it is destroyed, said assistant district attorney Thomas Binger. The lab will record the process and present a video to Richards as evidence that the gun was destroyed, Binger said.

A hearing on Friday marked the end of the Rittenhouse criminal case, but he could still face a civil lawsuit over the shooting.

Anthony Hoover’s parents, one of his victims, moved to fix earlier this month Federal Civil Rights Proceedings Against Kenosha Officials Add Rittenhouse as a defendant.

The motion points out that plaintiffs were waiting not to interfere with criminal charges against Rittenhaus. Judges in federal cases have not yet agreed to accept the amended complaint.
